What is Your Automobile's Timing Belt?

Your vehicle most likely comes equipped with a timing belt, but what is it and what purpose does it serve? At Basic Auto Sales, we would like you to have an understanding of how your vehicle functions to ensure that it runs properly. You can read our content below to find out additional information about your vehicle's timing belt.

More than likely, your vehicle's timing belt will need to be changed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. However, check your owner's manual to see what the manufacturer recommends. If you observe fraying or hear a shrieking noise coming from the engine, your timing belt should be inspected by one of our service technicians. To make certain that your vehicle stays in optimal condition, the pulleys, water pump, and tensioners may also be changed at the same time as your timing belt.

Visit our service center the next time that your vehicle needs to be repaired or serviced.
